Angra, or Angra do Heroísmo (pron. IPA ['ɐÞɣɾɐ du eɾu'iʒmu]) is a municipality in Terceira Island in the Portuguese autonomous region of the Azores. The municipality has a population of 35,581 and an area of 239.0 km². It is bordered by Praia da Vitória to the west. The present Mayor is José Pedro Parreira Cardoso, elected by the Socialist Party. It was classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1983.
